Control valve sizing and selection training courses

March 2002 Training & Education

Mitech has announced that due to customer demand, it will be continuing with its basic and intermediate control valve sizing and selection training courses. The one-day courses will be held countrywide and are intended to inform instrument and mechanical engineers, technicians and consultants on the valve's basic operation and benefits, in particular its versatility and capability in high-pressure applications and extreme temperature conditions. Both courses are ideal for those involved in maintenance work and projects in the petrochemical, mining, iron and steel, pulp and paper and other process industries.

The basic control valve sizing and selection course covers such topics as the various types of valves available, flow principles, Cv definition, recovery factors, choked flow, cavitation, flashing, flow characteristics, special trims, material selection, actuator sizing and the basic use of computers.

The intermediate control valve sizing and selection course includes hands-on training with a more in-depth look at control valve selection using sizing software. This course includes revision of control valve theory, the use of data sheets, cavitation control and elimination, noise control, actuator sizing and control systems.

Both courses are held on an ongoing basis at Mitech's head office in Kya Sands, at their branches in Natal or Secunda or, if preferred, at their clients' premises. A nominal fee is charged to cover course literature, lunch and refreshments.
