The new Inline AS-i Gateway from Phoenix Contact is simultaneously the AS-i master and the slave in the Interbus Inline system. The installation system can be part of an Interbus, Profibus or DeviceNet design.
For each fieldbus system the AS-i Gateway represents a simple I/O module which can be accessed in the customary way. The Gateway adapts itself to the actual structure so that even with small AS-i networks there will be no unused gaps in the valuable address space of the control system.
The advantages of the two systems are combined by means of the AS-i Gateway in the Inline enclosure. Within the switch cabinet, Inline as a modular automation system, with the modules designed for side-by-side installation, eliminates entirely the need for planning and installation of cross wiring, thus lowering switch cabinet costs. AS-i achieves potentials for rationalisation through the use of flat cables with pass-through technology. Thus, individual components are reliably connected and rapidly installed without stripping, soldering, crimping or T-branches.
To permit simple commissioning and maintenance, the AS-i Gateway is equipped with operating and annunciating elements which have been extended in accordance with the functionality of specification 2.1.
