Rustenburg Control Roadshow 2002

February 2002 News

No sooner had we dispensed with the Christmas present wrappings and the Rustenburg Control Roadshow was upon us. Sooner than previous years, the show was held on 22 September to ensure an unhindered build-up to the Electrex Exhibition held at Gallagher Estate Midrand in mid-March 2002.

This year the roadshow was encouraged to use the 'snake' form of exhibition layout, which guides visitors past all the stands from the entrance to the exit. By all accounts this proved to be effective even though 50% of the visitors seemed to do a u-turn at the exit and find their way back to the entrance having the opportunity for a second look.

While platinum is known to be the centre of the local mining community in Rustenburg, it was very encouraging to note the growing numbers of visitors from other industries that came to the show to learn more about the latest technologies. The instrumentation supply industry was very well represented with some exhibitors new to the show making up a total complement of forty-four exhibitors.

Exhibitors this year included:

Adroit Technologies, Alldos, Alpret Control Specialist, Anglo Allied Engineering, Ascoreg, ATI Systems, Atlas Instruments, Autotech Weighing, Burkert Contromatic, Control Techniques, Danfoss, Dartcom, Endress + Hauser, Flowserve, Futuristix, HTC Sales-Fibox, Ind Auto & Control, Instrotech, KAB Instruments, Krohne, Lapp Cable, Loadtech, N & Z Instrumentation/Control, National Instruments, Newco Instruments, Pinnacle Instruments, PIP Rustenburg, PREI Instrumentation, RS Components SA, San People, Shorrock Automation, Siemens, Sperogroup, Thermacon Manufacturers, Thermo Ramsey, Titan Technology, Valve & Automation, Vega, What's new in Process, Wika Instruments, Xycom, Yelland Control, Yokogawa SA.

A comprehensive schedule of roadshows is planned for 2002 which includes:

Middleburg, 25 April

Phalaborwa, 6 June

Secunda, 25 July

Port Elizabeth, 22 August

Vaal Triangle, 19 September
