Westplex gains two distributorships

Westplex has been appointed the sole South African distributor for Avantes low cost PC-based fibre-optic spectroscopy products, and by Addi-Data as the sole South African distributor of its industrial automation products.

Avantes spectrometer products

These are used in a wide range of applications that include: industrial quality control, industrial process measurement and control, environmental and pollution measurement, scientific research, medical research, diamond and gemstone verification.

The product line includes:

* Plug-in, USB, RS232 and ADC-interfaced miniature spectrometers.

* AvaMouse low cost handheld reflection spectrometer.

* Ramon spectrometers, fluorescence spectrometers.

* Multiple beam spectrometers.

* AvaSoft software: controls all Avantes spectrometers under Windows 95/98/2000 or NT.

* Halogen, Blue LED, deuterium-halogen, xenon and mercury-argon light sources.

* Fibre-optic cables.

* Reflection and transmission probes.

* A complete range of accessories.

* Fibre-optic multiplexers.

Some applications:

* Exact colour measurement - plastics, textiles, food, paints, cosmetics, fruit, paper, printing, dyes, milk products, pH measurement, diamond colour.

* Spectral line measurements - oxygen content, water contamination, water content, wine odour and flavour, gas chromatography, gas detection.

* Temperature measurement - pyrometry.

* Fluorescence measurement - chlorophyll content.

* Absorption - sunglasses, optical filters, car window coatings, transparent coatings.

* Radiometry - energy spectrum of light bulbs, UV light sources, laser diodes.

* Raman spectroscopy - analysis of organic compounds, identification of drugs, verification of gemstone authenticity.

* Medical measurements - measure haemoglobin, cytochromes, carotene noninvasively. CO2 and HBO2 in heart operations, UV and chemical skin absorption.

Addi-Data

Addi-data offers a wide range of isolated data acquisition PC-boards, specifically designed for industrial applications, featuring ruggedness, noise immunity and reliability in harsh industrial environments.
