Level Measurement & Control

Level monitoring - designed by the user

September 2000 Level Measurement & Control

Besta AG, one of the world's leading suppliers of float level switches and exclusively represented locally by Measuretech, a Tyco International company, allow the user to design a switch to suit their own applications.

The Besta Tri-Mod switch comprises three components with hundreds of configurations covering any aspect of float level detection. These components comprise of the switching unit, the flange selection and the float, configurable to suit the application demand.

Available in electronic or pneumatic versions, the Besta switches cover applications from extremely high or extremely low temperatures, explosion proof, intrinsically safe, submersible, corrosive, high pressure, vacuum, crystallising and interface measurement.

The Besta switches, through the Tri-Mod principle, can be manufactured to replace most existing similar float switches with a significant reduction in purchase, operational and maintenance costs. Simplified installation and maintenance includes a hinged terminal cover, captive screws and self-lifting terminal clamps. The wiring connection diagram is displayed on both the external nameplate and within the lid cover. Glandless design permits on-line maintenance of all dry side components whilst the wetside con-tinues to function under process conditions. They are available in a variety of materials including stainless steel, Hastelloy or high quality plastics. The engineering standards of an internationally recognised pressure vessel manufacturer ensure quality of construction backed by a history of almost 40 years in the international supply of float level switches.

Typical applications include boiler level control, simple high/low alarms, pump shutdown, pump or valve control, external liquid level control (with Besta float chambers), vertical switch control of sumps and pits, maritime bilge pump control and many others with international certification and accreditation to the highest standards.
