Pulse divider with adjustable ratios

December 2001 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

IFM Electronic (represented locally by Shorrock Automation) has introduced a pulse divider with adjustable ratios. This allows high frequencies from evaluation systems and controllers to be adapted to low input frequencies - eliminating the need for fast input cards. The module has a 1-255 division factor, an integrated level converter and a 100 kHz input frequency, which corresponds to a pulse length of 5 µs. The division factor can be set by means of eight DIPswitches that are directly accessible on the unit.

The pulse divider can also be used as a level converter to change TTL to HTL signals, irrespective of the set division factor. The range includes HTL input signals from 10 to 30 V d.c. TTL input signals of 5 V d.c. and a 24 V d.c. PNP, short-circuit-protected output signal.

Housed in plastic, the module can be rail- mounted with seven connection terminals and it is suitable for use in an operating temperature range from 0 to 50°C. A green LED indicates the operating voltage.
