Cooled light detector module

Electron Tubes' CDM30 is a new temperature stabilised light detector module consisting of a photomultiplier and a housing. By maintaining the temperature to within ±0,2°C, stable photomultiplier gain and quantum efficiency is assured. Cooling down to 40° below ambient is possible with a fast cool-down of typically 20 minutes. Reduction of dark counts, particularly with the S20 photocathode types, allows up to two orders of magnitude to be attainable.
The CDM30 uses a thermoelectric cooler to transfer heat from the pmt to a fan-cooled heatsink. The pmt is surrounded by thermal insulation including an evacuated double-walled Pyrex glass optical window.
Both cooler and fans operate from a single +12 V input. An integral control board allows the pmt temperature to be set by an onboard potentiometer and monitored using an external DVM. The housing includes an active voltage divider with connectors on the back plate for HV input and pmt signal output. The CDM30 is intended for use with any of Electron Tubes' 30 mm diameter, 112 mm long, 11-stage pmts. Electron Tubes is represented locally by OEN Enterprises.
