Variable area flowmeter rating extended to IP67

November 2001 Flow Measurement & Control

With over two million units installed worldwide, Krohne says that its H250 is accepted as the industry standard for variable area (VA) flowmeter. The flowmeter has been IP65 rated for some time now, but recent improvements to the sealing system have raised the classification to IP67.

A key feature of the versatile H250 VA-meter is its capacity for delivering accurate and reliable results in the widest range of process applications. Modular construction enables simple plug-in upgrading of optional features such as limit switches, flow totalisers, high temperature adapter and transmitters, without any requirement for recalibration.

Krohne is challenging its customers to help prove that it is a case of 'the wetter the better' to test the extreme performance of its best-selling H250 flowmeter. At the Interkama 2001 fair, the H250 was the subject of a special display that combined the VA meter with flushing water and despite the constant deluge the meter never faltered. Now it is the turn of the industries regularly undertaking wet clean-downs - such as food and brewing - which Krohne is encouraging to take the unit to the limit, and take advantage of the H250's hygienic connections. With all wetted parts in stainless steel or Hastelloy, the H250 is suitable for process gas or liquid temperatures up to 200°C as standard (300°C with HT adaptor), standard pressure ratings 1,6 or 4 MPa (16 or 40 bar), and flow rates from 25 to 100 000 l/h water, or 0,7 to 600 m3 air, 10:1 turndown.

The ESK transmitters for the H250 are all HART smart and can be supplied with a Profibus PA interface, enabling easy integration into sophisticated digital process control systems. Information on higher temperatures or pressure versions is available on request. Ex versions are also available.
