Additive injection measurement and control

November 2001 Flow Measurement & Control

An additive injector panel offering the latest technology in additive injection measurement and control was recently released.

Available from DLM, the Lubrizol Minipak 2000 injector incorporates a virtual leak-proof metering/control manifold design with an enhanced Mini-Pak control module. The result is claimed to be the most advanced technology additive injector on the market.

Designed to meet the demand for total system integration, it can operate in a slave mode allowing additive control from an external device such as an electronic preset or terminal automation system. For local additive injection control the injector can run in SMART mode using the microprocessor based totaliser.

Injector manifold features

* Stainless steel construction.

* Precision oval gear meter machined into manifold block.

* Standard version with 538 Ryton gears, up to 11 litres per minute.

* Optional half height gears with double resolution.

* Standard Teflon ASCO solenoid valve machined into manifold block.

* Optional Chemraz ASCO solenoid valve.

* Inlet strainer and outlet check valve machined into manifold block.

* Inlet and outlet isolation/flow control needle valves machined into manifold.

* Standard components for common spare parts.

* Designed without tube fittings resulting in virtual leakless operation.

New features include:

* Hardware and software permissive.

* Self pace mode.

* Expanded I/O usage.

* Advanced alarm handling.

Standard Mini-Pak controller features

* Mounted in explosion-proof enclosure or touch pad enclosure.

* 2 line by 14-position backlit liquid crystal display.

* Ambient operating range of -40 to 60°C.

* Handheld IR programmer interface.

* Smith AccuLoad, Brooks, IMS, and Modbus protocols.

* 4 level, 8-password security.

* Special control algorithm for automatic injection correction.

* Alarms for no additive flow, additive cycle volume, and leaking solenoid.

* Automatic calibration of additive meter.

* Smith Meter Smart Additive Communications ready.
