Compact drives from Yaskawa

May 2014 Motion Control & Drives

Yaskawa drives have earned a reputation for high performance and quality and the J1000 is no exception. Designed with quality, reduced cost of ownership and maintainability in mind, this compact inverter drive series fulfils all the requirements for compact automation applications. It is ideal for conveyors, fans and pumps, blowers, food processing machines, printing and textile machines.

The reduced cost of ownership is achieved by the compact finless design, side-by-side mounting and ability to operate a larger motor with the normal duty rating. It is possible to fit the entire setup into the narrowest enclosures. A reduction in the number of mechanical parts has resulted in an increased Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rate of an impressive 28 years. The over-excitation braking functions enable rapid braking up to 50% faster without using a braking resistor.

The J1000 has CE, UL and cUL global certification approval as well as being RoHS compliant. It has Swing PWM to suppress motor noise for a more peaceful work environment. Yaskawa´s USB Copy Unit is available for applications with multiple drives requiring the same parameter settings. This can be used to load parameters from the drive at the factory and edit them later on a PC.

The J1000 is available from 0,1 to 5,5 kW. The voltage classes are 200-240 V single-phase, 200-240 V three-phase, and 380-480 V three-phase, all of which are 50/60 Hz. Other standard features consist of an open loop V/f control with a speed range of 40:1 and a starting torque of 150% at 3 Hz. It also includes an output frequency of 0-400 Hz and Modbus communication up to 38,4 Kbps.
