Good year for Sensus South Africa

“Despite tough economic conditions, Sensus SA had an exceptional 2013 reporting an overall increased turnover of 25% above budget. This can be attributed to an increased awareness of the scarcity of water and the need to maintain, manage and measure the supply more effectively,” says managing director Basil Bold.

“Water wastage, as a result of ageing and dysfunctional water systems, has become a critical issue. The revenue flow to local municipalities is dependent on accurate water measurement, billing and collection. The advanced water measuring technologies that Sensus offers are a solution to much of local government’s water issues, and that awareness is reflected in our increased turnover during 2013. The enormity of water loss can only be understood from accurate measurement and is a prerequisite before any intervention strategy is implemented.

“We were pleased that Sensus was recently selected to support one of the world’s largest Smart Grid metering campaigns initiated by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in Britain, through the supply of the core technology to support the roll-out of smart meters to 10 million homes and small businesses. It is a reflection of the trend globally to embrace ‘smart’ water meter technologies. We anticipate that this trend will grow exponentially in the years ahead, particularly in the sub-Saharan African markets where water is a scarce resource. Without an adequate water supply, there can be no economic growth.”

Sensus SA offers a full spectrum of water metering systems, ranging from small 15 mm domestic meters to large diameter bulk meters exceeding 2000 mm, as well as a full range of complementary systems components for AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructures).
