Vega launches new pressure transmitter series to South African customers

March 2014 News

In January, Vega launched its new range of pressure transmitters into the South African market. Vega Grieshaber pressure product manager, Florian Burgert, introduced the new series to customers at events in Rustenburg, Sasolburg and Johannesburg.

The Johannesburg event was held at the Roodepoort Country Club where the new product range was displayed using working set-ups. As the introduction to the programme, customers experienced at bit of ‘Vega cinema’ in the form of a video showing the manufacturing process at the company’s facility in Germany.

Vega has re-engineered its Vegabar pressure transmitter series in three innovative models that make it easy to choose the most appropriate instrument for any application. The Vegabar 82 is the all-rounder that covers 60-70% of all applications. If high temperature and chemical resistance is required, the Vegabar 81 with a chemical seal assembly is the first choice, while the Vegabar 83 with its metallic measuring cell is recommended for high pressures.

The versatile Vegabar 82 features the proprietary, high abrasion and overload resistant ceramic-capacitive Certec measuring cell and boasts some interesting new innovations, for example, its sensitivity to condensation has been virtually eliminated. Sensitivity to sudden temperature change, also a common weakness of ceramics, has also now all but been eliminated through a patent pending design.

In addition, all sensors in the Vegabar 80 series can be quickly and easily combined into an electronic differential pressure system. Compared to conventional differential pressure measuring systems, electronic measurement is often cheaper and easier to handle.
