Endress+Hauser customer training: preparing for optimised reactive maintenance

January 2014 News

According to Endress+ Hauser, technical training is a vital part of reactive maintenance (breakdown) planning. Suitably trained maintenance personnel are integral to effective and timeous response to breakdown situations. Of course, breakdowns are the most unfavourable maintenance situation that a process plant faces, as these reactive events lead to loss of production which have financial and, in most cases, quality impacts.

Training is the ideal platform for companies to improve their in-house skills as well as ensuring that they stay current with new technology. Training also motivates employees to maximise their value to the maintenance team. Training, combined with a personal development plan, cultivates an environment of success and growth, thereby enhancing the sustainability of installed base availability.

Direct benefits of training to the employer include a maintenance team that has the capability of reacting to and minimising plant outages. Cost-saving due to enhanced efficiency of the installed instrumentation base is another direct benefit.

An important maintenance consideration is that reactive maintenance strategies do not only depend on trained personnel. Other factors to be considered are spare parts holding strategies, tooling requirements and approved service provider support definitions. Endress+Hauser’s Added Value Services Team can consult with and support users in this regard.

Training courses facilitated by Endress+Hauser provide participants with the necessary skills and techniques. This content has both a theoretical and a practical focus. Training is offered based on a 3-tier format: basic, advanced and expert levels. A conclusion to each training session is a formal assessment of both the theoretical and practical content that was covered.

The training team offers training on all products and services found within the Endress+Hauser basket, as well as an ever increasing portfolio for third-party technology.
