The 845G Allen-Bradley single-turn absolute encoder digitises shaft position for reliable readouts under harsh conditions. Absolute encoders provide a unique digital output through the complete range of shaft positions as opposed to incremental encoders, which require an established 'reference point' to define position. One of the chief advantages of absolute encoders is that in case of a power interruption - planned or unplanned - the encoder's position is maintained. There is no need to re-establish a reference point before resuming operation.
As an added convenience, the 845G incorporates a zero set pin. Most absolute encoders must be de-coupled from the monitored shaft to synchronise the electrical and mechanical zero or home positions. The 845G can be set to zero by connecting DC+ to the zero set pin.
* Zero set pin for easy shaft alignment.
* Absolute grey code or natural binary output.
* 8 to 15 bit resolution (256 to 32 768 counts per revolution).
* Open collector, TTL, push-pull or SSI outputs.
* Low or high true output optional.
* Reverse polarity protection.
* 5 to 26 V d.c. power supply.
* 0 to 70°C operating temperature.
* Accuracy of ±1 bit
* Field-selectable direction control (CW or CCW) for increasing counts.
