Electra Mining West Africa – unlocking the value and shaping the future of West Africa’s mining industry

January 2014 News

Electra Mining West Africa is the newest addition to the global Electra Mining Africa brand receiving recognition for its broad reach across mining, construction, industrial and power generation industry sectors. The event will be held in Accra, Ghana, from the 3-5 March 2014 following a series of over 40 successful years in South Africa, and recognising a need to meet West Africa’s mining needs. Electra Mining West Africa will be hosting the first mining awards for the region along with the conference and a small trade show dedicated to the growth, development and investment of mining interests in West Africa.

The event will recognise and reward excellence and innovation in West Africa’s mining sector being the only awards event in the region. It is positioned to be the largest show in West Africa, one of the fastest growing mining industries on the continent.

The show is aimed at developing business interest, promoting new mining exploration opportunities and repositioning Ghana as an attractive gateway for investment in West Africa. With the largest regional gold producer in the region, Ghana, planning to double its production by 2015, Ivory Coast, Mali and Burkina Faso continue to attract investment due to their stability and positive economic growth. The region presents itself ready for large scale investment and development. Sierra Leone and Guinea will also see the fastest growth in iron ore production by 2016.
