NewElec’s GA relays provide earth leakage protection without nuisance tripping for motors started direct-on-line as well as variable speed drive applications. This is achieved by the use of harmonic filters. The GA is available in diverse configuration options, including latching or non-latching main trip contact, fail-safe or non fail-safe options, as well as 110, 220, 380 or 525 VAC auxiliary supply voltages. The GAxxxELX version makes it simple to substitute other popular brands that may already be fitted to MCC doors directly without re-working the cut-out. Both the GA and ELX versions are available in sensitivities of 30, 250, 375, 500 and 1000 mA.
The relays cater for user selectable trip characteristics, such as instantaneous or IDMT selections so that they may be used for grading purposes. GA relays provide harmonic suppression and isolation to IEC 255-5 App A. As a door-mounted unit, the front control panel clearly displays, by means of suitably coloured LEDs, the user tripping curve selected, as well as the relay trip status.
