Operating consoles with integrated intelligence

September 2001 Industrial Computer Hardware

Rockwell Automation is offering on-site operating stations with series 800E push-buttons and DeviceLogix. Using these new stations offers decisive advantages in applications where powerful, robust and versatile operator interfaces with network connection play an important role.

The new on-site operating stations with series 800E pushbuttons are well suited to applications requiring a network connection. The relevant DeviceNet interface is built into a strong station housing, and the network supplies power to the entire unit. A separate supply connection is no longer necessary. The use of the new pushbutton stations helps to considerably reduce wiring effort and wiring costs. The client can choose from 23 different pushbuttons for the stations - amongst them is also an E-Stop version. All combinations are delivered fully configured and are available as 2, 3 and 4-hole versions, each with their own unique catalogue number. Depending on the pushbuttons used, the stations comply with protection grade IP 66.

Using plug-in connectors, the new pushbutton stations can be quickly and safely integrated into applications. Using micro plug-ins, up to four external I/O-connections can be used for local sensors or other devices. If combinations with illuminated buttons are required, these are equipped with new and particularly bright LEDs which enable the relevant operating condition to be recognised safely - even from a distance. Typical application areas for the new on-site operating stations are: conveyor belts, pump stations, smaller engines, compressors, remote control stations, assembly lines and cranes.
