The absolute, linear and non-contact position sensors have had a major influence in the measuring technology of injection moulding and thermoforming machines. At the K 2013, in Düsseldorf, MTS Sensor Technologie showcased sensors for the plastics processing industry that are optimally suited for standard as well as for challenging applications.
Compact and cost-effective – these are the characteristics of the Temposonics E series sensors. The rod style (EH), profile style (EP) and ultralow profile style (EL) sensors are also available with digital SSI and CANopen outputs and can be installed even in applications with limited space. Temposonics EP2 is operated with a floating position magnet. This means the magnet can travel along the whole housing including the electronics which might be a practical advantage, if the travel distance is longer than the measuring length.
Position sensors with fieldbus systems for industrial communication are ideal for challenging applications. They facilitate networking of sensors, actuators and control systems and reduce the wiring complexity. Temposonics position sensors with CANopen outputs, which are available across the series and offer a wide range of stroke lengths, are the adaptable solutions for the future. Temposonics R series sensors with EtherCAT output are designed for integrated networking and communication with real-time capable Ethernet. The outstanding features are their unrivalled accuracy, best repeatability and good dynamic properties.
With a stroke length up to 20 m, the Temposonics RF sensor is the longest magnetostrictive position sensor for industrial applications. The flexible sensor tube can be mounted easily even with long actuators. The sensor can also be operated in a modular extension housing available as an accessory.
