The first 400 bar inert gas filling plant in Africa
1 October 2013
News
The first production filling plant on the African continent for gas fire suppression cylinders up to 100 litre capacity is now open. Last year, Alien Systems & Technologies embarked on a project to revolutionise the South African gas filling market and the company now boasts a fully operational filling plant with the capability to fill at pressures up to 400 Bar via a fully automated process.
“We’re now in a position to increase efficiency and turnaround times, this state of the art plant gives us the capacity to fill 700 cylinders a day” says AST CEO, Paul Wright.
Major investment in civil infrastructure means the filling plant brags engineered access road ways, loading and off loading facilities that can handle 40 foot containers and a state of the art fully enclosed filling line. In addition, Wright also confirms that AST has acquired a full production facility for seamless cylinder manufacture, which includes burst testing facilities up to 1000 Bar and automated helium leak detection apparatus.
According to Wright, everyone is set to benefit with these new developments. “Our new operations and business expansion will ensure a one stop fire engineering shop for our clients. We are also creating jobs in a tough economic climate and ensuring South Africa leads from the front with regards to innovation and business development. AST is without a doubt a premiere fire engineering company, not only in South Africa but in Africa as well.”
