Bosch Rexroth improves workstation ergonomics

With an estimated R52 billion loss to the South African economy since the year 2000 due to sickness and absenteeism, Bosch Rexroth is finding ways to improve workstation ergonomics and limit the risk of employees developing back and musculoskeletal problems.
“Although routed in drive and control, we highly recommend one of the latest workstation innovations from Bosch Rexroth for both general office and specialised workstation applications,” says Greg Calder, product manager linear motion & assembly technologies at Tectra Automation.
With the latest-generation swivel work chairs for ergonomic seating comfort, it no longer matters whether a worker is old or young, tall or short, slim or heavy-set. Users can easily adjust their chairs to suit their body type exactly, which is essential to maintaining a healthy posture when seated.
“With a solid foundation in workstation design, Bosch Rexroth has incorporated user experience from some of the most demanding assembly line applications around the world into the new range of swivel work chairs. The resulting customisation and seatback contour advances can help users to maintain the correct seated posture and delay the onset of fatigue, whether working on a high-tech assembly line or inside a call centre,” explains Calder.
The range features a variety of functions, including a step-up rail, adjustable seating surface and ynchronous techniques for better weight distribution. It also contours the shape of the spine, encourages dynamic sitting and, by reducing fatigue, is a sure way to improve productivity.
