For the 2013 Formula One world championship, SKF has announced that it will equip the majority of the cars with wheel bearings, making the company the leader in this bearing application for Formula One machines.
In addition to drawing on its five technology platforms (bearings and units, seals, mechatronics, services, and lubrication systems) the company will also tap into the knowledge gained from the longest running technical partnership in the sport, that with Scuderia Ferrari. The world championship serves as an important test bed for SKF to develop the technology that underpins offerings for the general automotive industry.
