2/4-port fast Ethernet card with bypass

ADLink is offering the PCI-8214/13, a 2/4-port fast Ethernet card with bypass capability. The PCI-8214 is a 64 bit, 33/66 MHz PCI card and can be plugged into any on-board 320 bit PCI slots due to backward capability of the 64 bit PCI bridge Intel 21154. The state-of-the-art Intel 82559 chips are used for multiple OS and long-life support. Additionally, PCI-8214 supports Intel pre-boot; Intel 82559 chips also provide a network management service kit, which again makes the PCI-8214 stand out from its peers.

Another function the PCI-8214 provides is its bypass capability. The bypass is designed for network monitoring and control. When the system hangs, is power-off, the on-board relays will cross-link the channel #1 and the channel #2. In other words, the PCI-8214 links the inbound and outbound network when the hardware or the software fails to ensure successful data transmission. This bypass capability is especially vital for applications such as Internet Cafés since smooth Internet accessibility plays an important role in the success of the business.

For customers whose major concern is load sharing, ADLink recommends the PCCI-8213, a 4-port fast Ethernet card.
