Gammapilot FTG20 is the latest instrument from Endress+Hauser for point level detection. It combines all of the strengths of the brand – uncompromising quality, the highest degree of safety for users, more efficient processes and substantial cost savings over the entire life cycle. Based on Geiger-Müller technology, the Gammapilot FTG20 has the highest measurement sensitivity in its class for the automation industry. It reflects 50 years of competence in radiometric measurement engineering in one instrument.
Highest degree of flexibility due to a sophisticated design
The Gammapilot FTG20 consists of two separate units: a detector which contains one to three Geiger-Müller counter tubes and a transmitter. The latter first converts the measured value into a switching command and then provides the switching in the form of a relay or an 8/16 mA output. Both units (detector and transmitter) are connected via a cable which is available in lengths of 5, 10 or 20 metres. This guarantees the highest degree of flexibility on installation.
Complete safety
The device features a modular design and can therefore be used with one, two or even three Geiger-Müller counter tubes with very high sensitivity. In addition, the device fits perfectly into any application and can reach very low radiation values, even in a short switching time of 0,4 seconds.
The separate transmitter provides additional safety. Installation staff can commission the instrument without being exposed to the radiation path as there is less radiation than in conventional radiometric point level detectors.
Cost savings over the entire life cycle
The Gammapilot FTG20 uses the HistoROM concept which has already been tried and tested in other product lines. The ease of installation and commissioning made possible by the separate housing concept provide cost savings over its entire life cycle. The HistoROM system provides self-monitoring of electronics and all data relevant to the operation of the instrument is cyclically stored. This makes recalibration superfluous if the electronics are changed. Normal decay is compensated for in the software. The decline in radiation activity due to ageing is of no consequence as the isotope is stored in the HistoROM system.
Reliability in rough environments
The Gammapilot FTG20 was developed for applications in the chemical, oil and gas, primaries and paper industries. Both stainless steel and aluminium housings are available. In addition, explosion protection approvals for gas and dust Ex-areas (ATEX 2G, ATEX 2D, CSA, IECEx) are provided. Even the roughest environmental conditions are mastered by the Gammapilot FTG20 without any problems. For example, it meets protection classes up to IP66/68 or TYPE 4X/6P and is designed for ambient temperatures between -40 and +120°C.
