Leine & Linde is offering two versions of its 30 mm diameter encoder, the RS310.
The two versions of the encoder were specially created for length and diameter measurement in forestry harvesting units. The D-LOG, for diameter measurement, is a version with a B-36V power supply and 1000 ppr, while the L-LOG is for length measurement, also with 9-36 V power supply but with 100 ppr.
Despite its small size, the encoder has an internal diagnostic system that warns of defective functions via status outputs. Three different problem areas in the encoder can be detected:
* Low signal amplitude on the encoder's internal signals.
* Weak light signal from the encoder's LED.
* Low internal 5 V level.
A low signal on the status output means that one of these parameters has reached a level critical for the functioning of the encoder. The encoder can still operate, but with reduced performance. This makes it possible to detect a problem at an early stage and prevent serious operational disturbances.
