Becker Mining showcases its strengths

Becker Mining South Africa’s high-tech stand at this year’s Electra Mining exhibition showcased the company’s commitment to investing in the latest technology in every aspect of its business. “Most of our equipment is manufactured locally by three wholly owned South African manufacturing companies: Becker Electronics for all electronic automation and communication systems, EMIS for electrical energy distribution and control systems and Bellambie Mining & Industrial for mechanical and roof support systems,” says Johann Smit, chief sales officer, Becker Mining South Africa. “The Alert Pumpmor manufacturing plant has been fully integrated into the Bellambie Mining & Industrial manufacturing operation and continues to design, manufacture and supply the full range of vertical spindle uni-pumps, as well as the Pumpmor pump range.”
A draw card to the stand was the range of EMIS electrical flameproof equipment which forms a critical part of the company’s range. The new EMIS ProLoc electronic protection and control relay system, launched at the event, has been designed for optimum protection of motor and feeder circuits connected to outlet sockets. This system is suitable for thermal overload protection of conveyors, compressors, crushers, fan and pump motors, as well as shuttle cars and flitting panels.
The company’s latest patented tri-technology collision avoidance system (CAS) was also on display at this year’s exhibition. This CAS system provides levels of audible and visual warning proportional to the position of the threat and also has the ability to stop a vehicle should this be necessary.
The Group’s commitment to providing a critical service to the mines and general industry encompasses the latest technology and engineering, as well as the manufacture, assembly and supply of quality components. A specialised consulting, training and support facility ensures optimum efficiency of a wide range of equipment and total safety for workers.
