Through globalisation, the world is becoming increasingly more interconnected, not only through technologies, but also in economical and logistical terms. To hold their own in global competition, African companies must make their production processes economical and affordable to be able to manufacture high-quality products in the short timescales demanded by the modern consumer.
Des Burrows, head of service delivery Siemens Industry Sector, explains that this year’s themes of productivity and energy efficiency go hand-in-hand in ensuring a significant competitive advantage. “Siemens’ Totally Integrated Automation portfolio is helping customers not only to enhance productivity demands, but also to address resource scarcity and environmental protection. Trend-setting integrated solutions allow cost sources to be more easily identified and energy flows made more transparent. In turn, this helps to reduce energy and operating costs with resulting benefits to companies, customers and the environment.”
