The Rhomberg SC301 control module for Namur sensors converts the low current signal of the sensor into a relay switching action. It works with either the inductive or the capacitive Namur sensors that are also part of the Rhomberg range. By monitoring the current flow of the sensor, it detects cable faults and open circuit conditions, making the unit fail-safe. The three LEDs on the front of the unit indicate target sensing, cable fault and relay output.
Rhomberg Electronic products are manufactured in Cape Town and exported worldwide. Conforming to the DIN 19234 standard, the SC301 control module is the only locally manufactured product to be approved by the SABS for use in intrinsically safe applications (EXIB) GR 2C, T6. This makes it ideal for hazardous areas where proximity switches are required, particularly in the petrochemical and fertiliser industries where dangerous and flammable gases occur. The Namur sensor is positioned in the hazardous area and is connected by two wires to the SC301, which is mounted in a safe area or flameproof enclosure.
