Bytes sponsors MESA international global education program in South Africa
February 2012
News
Bytes Systems Integration has announced that it will sponsor the Manufacturing Enterprise Solution Association (MESA) Global Education Program (GEP) Certificate of Competence (CoC) course that will run in Johannesburg between 28 February and 2 March, 2012. Bytes PMC divisional manager and chairman of MESA Southern Africa, Gerhard Greeff, is among the five developers and certified instructors of the GEP having instructed in South Africa, the USA and Saudi Arabia.
Greeff, a proponent of MES and MOM in South Africa says, “I am surprised with how much I learned in helping to develop this program, and amazed how much more I learned presenting the material to a variety of industry practitioners. Vendors are hungry for new skills, concepts and approaches and end-users for solutions that can assist them to solve business problems. The need in the industry is clear throughout the world with little active guidance being provided to end-users other than through vendors. This program clearly shows the leadership of MESA and the GEP Committee in that they are providing just what that market needs. I believe that students coming out of these courses will have a much better understanding of MES/MOM principles, standards and concepts and as a result of this, more successful MES/MOM projects and return on investment.”
The MESA Global Education Program aggressively addresses the knowledge gap that serves as the primary barrier to growth of the Operations Management space. Slowing that growth inhibits the realisation of the significant gains available to end users who successfully embrace MES/MOM.
The MES/MOM skills shortage within southern Africa and indeed globally is recognised as a major barrier to plant and supply chain optimisation and global operations excellence. Since the program launch, MESA has experienced a remarkable worldwide response. GEP Programs are ongoing with the next GEP course scheduled for the area to be held in February. Greeff says, “I look forward to share the material with the class at the Bytes Business Park in Midrand. Please contact me if you will be attending.” Learn more about MESA’s Global Education Program and register on-line at http://www.mesa.org/en/globaleducationprogram/educationprogram.asp.
