OPC enabled surveillance software for factory floor monitoring.

Moxa has announced the release of SoftNVR-IA, a scada compliant IP surveillance software application designed to fit industrial automation applications. The software features a built-in OPC server that enables direct communications between factory floor automation systems and Moxa’s VPort series surveillance products.

Merging video and automation services

Through OPC communications, SoftNVR-IA can activate the triggering of video recordings and alarm notifications by the automation system, while simultaneously providing automation administrators with surveillance system status reports. “SoftNVR-IA simplifies the integration of IP surveillance with automation systems,” explains Harry Hsiao, Moxa IP surveillance division product manager, “It enhances automation security by merging video data with automation.”

Flexible live video monitoring

The system includes all essential video functions. It supports MPEG and H.264 video streams with up to 32 channels of live display and users have the flexibility of switching to dual monitor and full screen display modes. In a typical scada application, SoftNVR-IA can cooperate with VPort products to operate pan-tilt-zoom cameras to capture target images precisely from field sites and present a better picture of potential risks before sending any staff to the field site.

Improved productivity

The software can be triggered manually, by event trigger, or on a schedule to record video or perform other network video functions. This network video software supports pre-event recording for up to 30 seconds and the FIFO recycle function for long term recording. These video records can be used for further analysis, troubleshooting, problem prevention and can be filed to improve facility security and productivity.

Intelligent alarm handling

Alarm management functionality allows a variety of responses to triggered alarms such as pop-up display, go preset and sound. It is also capable of sending alarm notification e-mails to multiple addresses. “Video surveillance is part of the future of industrial automation, and SoftNVR-IA gives system integrators a way to integrate video surveillance applications with their scada systems that is easier and more efficient than ever,” says Hsiao.

Key features

* Up to 32 channels in one system.

* Create an OPC server for easy communication with automation systems.

* Live view with H.264, MPEG4, and MJPEG, from VPort products.

* Dual monitor display capability.
