Level Measurement & Control

New Battery- powered scopemeter

March 2000 Level Measurement & Control

Spescom MeasureGraph now offers the ScopeMeter 190 Series handheld, battery powered oscilloscopes. The new 190 Series is designed to meet the needs of service professionals and electronic engineers involved in system integration of engineering, installation and second-line services, and who need high performance oscilloscopes that are easy to carry, have fast troubleshooting capabilities and allow for detailed analysis.

The ScopeMeter 190 Series offers superior oscilloscope specifications with up to 200 MHz bandwidth and 2,5 GSa/s realtime sampling using separate digitisers on both isolated inputs. This high realtime sampling rate assures accurate, high-resolution representation of the real waveform instead of an interpolated waveform. In addition to the high-end banner specifications, the 190 Series has a memory of 27 500 points per input for long, high-resolution recording. This continuous roll mode stores signals for up to 30 h while still capturing past intermittents and glitches as fast as 50 ns.

A breakthrough in low power, high sampling circuits allows the ScopeMeter 190 Series to run an unmatched four hours on a single battery load and, without the need for forced draft cooling, it is possible to put it in a sealed, dust and drip proof case.

The portability of the ScopeMeter190 Series makes it easy for service technicians and electronic engineers to use them at any job site. With its powerful banner specifications, its long lasting rechargeable batteries, ruggedness and troubleshooting features, the 190 Series is equipped to get the job done right. The ScopeMeter 190 Series features the unique Connect-and-View automatic triggering, which provides a stable and accurate display of virtually any signal whatever the signal complexity or dynamics, without the need for setting up the instrument. Besides advanced automatic triggering, the 190 Series offers various manual-triggering modes such as edge, pulse width, video (line count and field select), delay and external triggering. This gives the engineer the trigger power to capture virtually any signal.

The ScopeMeter 190 Series offers the unique ability to look at ‘missed’ signals at the touch of the replay button. In normal mode, the instrument continuously memorises the last 100 screens. At any moment these 100 screens can be frozen and scrolled through picture by picture or replayed continuously as a 'live' animation. With the advanced trigger capabilities, the same feature automatically captures up to 100 predefined intermittent glitches and signal anomalies in a sort of 'baby-sit' mode.

The 190 Series features cursors, 24 automatic scope measurements, a realtime clock and realtime sampling per input. The ScopeMeter 190 Series also offers a zoom function for detailed signal analysis of single sample measurements. Additionally, 2 x 100 waveform and 10 set-up memories allow for easy storage, recall and analysis, making printing or documenting waveforms quick and easy.

As with other ScopeMeter test tools, the 190 Series also features a 5000 count true-RMS scope measurements. The TrendPlot feature also offers the possibility to use cursors and store recordings for later analysis.

The 190 Series is equipped with a striking new form factor as well as state-of-the-art test and measurement features. The new models boast an enhanced user interface, a new case design with large display and a multi-task industrial probe set that measures millivolts to kilovolts. The large, extra-bright display of the 190 Series gives operators the option of viewing displays from up close or at a distance and illuminates clear pictures for inspections in the dark or daylight.

The independently floating isolated oscilloscope and digital multimeter inputs provide safety in high-voltage power circuit applications while measuring low voltage control signals. And like all Fluke tools, the 190 Series is designed with safety in mind with an EN-61010 Category III 600 V and Category II 1000 V safety rating and insulated inputs.
