Schneider Electric South Africa has introduced Altistart 22, its soft start/stop motor control for commercial and light duty industrial applications. The unit uses both voltage and torque control to provide a soft start and soft stop for three-phase asynchronous motors between 17 and 590 A.
The Altistart 22 reduces operating costs by controlling motor current in-rush and reducing electrical demand. Conformal coated printed circuit boards provide enhanced resistance to harsh environments, increasing the service life of the installation and reducing maintenance costs.
An easy-start menu guides users through parameter set-up and the integrated keypad display provides real-time visual feedback. A multifunction Modbus port allows connection to a Modbus network for remote communication. Integrated functions for machine optimisation include a centrifugal pump, piston pump, fan, turbine blowers, refrigerant compressor, screw compressor and centrifugal compressor, conveyor, screw conveyor and agitator.
