Measurement technology from Endress+Hauser can assist to increase the quality of a filling process with the new RA33 batch controller that combines a compact, multifunctional housing with easy operation. Plain text indication offers outstanding readability of the precise measurement values based on fully automatic accuracy monitoring. The controller achieves continuous accuracy while avoiding operating errors to improve the reliability of the filling processes.
Total control
The batch controller’s main task is to record the flow and to control valves with the help of preset parameters. A flow sensor transmits the volume flow as an analogue or pulse signal to the controller. Up to four digital outputs are available for one or two-stage valve control, other devices such as pumps or signal lamps can also be included.
The required filling quantity can be entered directly into the device via a numeric keyboard before the start of the process. The unit then controls the process automatically when the start key is pressed or sent as a signal on an assigned digital input. The start/stop signal and preset counter can also be initiated using the optional Modbus interface.
Process transparency and documentation
The RA33 Batch Controller possesses a logbook for batch protocols as well as an event log. These protocols and additional statistics regarding the number of fillings and filled quantities per day, month and year ensure transparency of the processes. Data can be printed by connecting a serial interface to the RA33. A printout of the batch protocol can then be automatically initiated at the end of each filling process.
If devices are connected using Ethernet, customers can read out measurement data, calculated values and device data (such as serial number, TAG) at any time via the integrated web server. Additional software for the supervision of online data is therefore not necessary. The RA33 can also be ordered with interfaces for Modbus RTU and TCP in order to ensure easy system integration.
Flexible set-up in the field
A multiline, backlit LC display and a numeric keyboard allow quick configuration to be carried out on-site or remotely with the help of a USB interface and FieldCare. The option of having the RA33 Batch Controller delivered pre-programmed is also available.
Safety settings such as the limitation of the preset counter entry to a maximum allowable value and comfort settings like predefined recipes round off the RA33 functionality.
Predefined universal inputs support simple and quick commissioning and are suitable for connection to, and powering of, all commonly used flow meters, pressure transducers and temperature measurement points. The compact housing for field, wall, panel and DIN rail mounting makes the use of this device possible in all environments.
