Calculus brand celebrates 30 years

October 2011 News

Thirty years ago at a small Bryanston facility, an instrumentation idea was developed and expanded into the international enterprise it has become today. Then known as Calculus System Projects, for its original range of instrumentation products and weighing systems the company subsequently re-branded to emerge as Technopark Automation & Control (TAC) offering a comprehensive array of applications for automation and process measurement.

Managing director Jan Jooste says that from the beginning back in 1981 the company has come a long way with its products now in operation at many plants around South Africa and the African continent.

“Our instrumentation products and weighing systems have all been developed in-house and we do not rely on overseas principals for technical expertise,” he adds. “This has the benefit of hands-on support and quick turnaround coupled with the ability to develop locally customised solutions.”

Jooste believes that the essential element of TAC’s success is its capability to provide turnkey for all applications. These include load cells and basic instrumentation to computerised raw material proportioning systems (for batching and blending), weighing systems for filling machines, and belt weighers for weigh feeding applications.
