Instrotech has introduced a radio modem transmitter or receiver, the RM24100, that acts as a wireless serial cable replacement to connect various devices together in a wide range of applications. An example is the facilitation of wireless data transmission from a panel mount indicator to a large display.
The radio modems operate in licence-free 2,4 GHz ISM band and are capable of achieving long range line-of-sight communication of up to 1 km in outdoor applications or 90m in indoor/urban environments. The inclusion of direct sequence spread spectrum radio technology ensures reliable communication in noisy areas.
With its durable polyamide industrial DIN rail mount enclosure and industrial grade electronics, the device is ideal for industrial automation/SCADA systems. The RM24100 can operate in a peer-to-peer, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint network topology.
Power supply is 8-30 VDC switch mode with built-in 33 V over voltage and reverse voltage protection. The unit has built-in LEDs to indicate power, transmit, receive and signal strength indication. RS232 and RS485 interfaces are available.
