Siemens Industry Automation Division’s Sitrans LR250 radar level transmitter has been certified in compliance with SIL 2 by independent certification company Risknowlogy.
This declaration represents a higher level of risk reduction, in accordance with the IEC 61508/61511 standard for functional safety. The Sitrans LR250 achieved the SIL 2 rating as a result of its high performance index (or safe failure fraction) which enables minimised maintenance times and cost of ownership. Combined with its extensive diagnostic capability and the quality of its design, the new SIL 2 declaration ensures a high degree of reliability in a variety of applications, including those demanding functional safety.
Sitrans LR250 is a plug-and-play compact 25 GHz 2-wire transmitter that is both easy to install and to commission, allowing slurry or liquid levels to be measured accurately and reliably within minutes. The level transmitter can be used in general applications, but is also suitable for chemical, pharmaceutical, and hydrocarbon processing applications, including corrosive environments.
