Honeywell's Experion PKS selected in Abu Dhabi

Honeywell has announced that it has been selected by Samsung Engineering to deliver an integrated process control system for FERTIL-2, a new fertiliser plant being built near Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Honeywell’s Experion Process Knowledge System and Safety Manager will be used to automate the facility and increase the output of ammonia and urea used in fertiliser production by up to 50%.

Experion PKS will help to produce ammonia and urea in capacities of up to 3500 metric tons per day, with production expected to begin in January 2013. In addition, with the implementation of Safety Manager, Experion will improve process safeguarding protocols such as emergency shutdowns, fire and gas monitoring and critical application control.
