SEW-Eurodrive has launched a local drive academy as a result of an increased demand for customer training. “With more and more customers asking for training there is no doubt in our minds that this is the right time to launch this initiative,” says Rene Rose, general manager communications, who will be leading the new business initiative.
The concept is modelled on the drive academy at the company’s German head office where training is practically orientated and demand specific. It covers theory, but at the same time customers have the opportunity to practise on up-
to-date equipment and simulate practical problems encountered in the field.
A wide range of training courses are available that cover topics such as geared motor maintenance, condition monitoring and the basics of drive engineering. Other courses are more product specific and expose customers to an expert fully versed in the SEW-Eurodrive product range and its application.
“As a result of the skills shortage combined with the dynamic technology landscape, training is a necessity in today’s industrial world. Adequate training means less commissioning and down-time for the customer,” explains Rose.
SEW-Eurodrive is also offering demonstration models to companies who wish to do their own training, often the case with companies in other parts of Africa that send their trainers for training and then transfer the knowledge to the staff at the plant.
