Continuous vibration monitoring

April 2011 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

The new VT vibration transmitter from ifm electronic provides continuous vibration monitoring for rotating machinery and equipment according to ISO 10816.

Fitted in a stainless steel housing, the sensor measures the true rms velocity of non-rotating component surfaces. The values are then transmitted as an analogue signal (4-20 mA) directly to the PLC.

Due to its robust design and high IP rating, as well as the maximum ambient temperature of 105°C, the sensor is suitable for use in harsh environments. The VT is quick and easy to install and no extra parameter software is required.

The VT is 2-wire loop powered and has a M12 connector with a 0-25 mm/s measuring range. It meets IP 68/IP 69K requirements and is suitable for use in ambient temperatures from -30 to +105°C.

Always keeping an eye on the measured values
ifm - South Africa Electrical Power & Protection
Despite growing digitalisation, there are still many situations where analogue measured values such as the level in a tank or the temperature of a climatised room must be directly readable in the control cabinet or at the control desk. The current loop display is designed for precisely this purpose.
