ABB South Africa has reported solid results for year-end December 2010 with increased order flow resulting from power infrastructure demand in South Africa. The automation side of the business benefitted locally from demand for industrial energy efficiency and service, despite lower capex investments. Key projects during the year included power infrastructure and automation systems for Moatize coal mine in Mozambique (R450 million over three years), rectifiers order of R12 million for Boss Mining (Katanga Province, DRC), excitation systems orders of R146 million for Eskom Matimba Power Station and a R28 million order for AC machines for Sasol Synfuels in Secunda.
