Specifying, ordering, fitting and setting up light guard installations are easy tasks with the new all-in-one MS28/MS48 safety light curtains from Omron Electronics. Unlike conventional light curtain designs, where designers may have to choose from a range of potentially confusing options, the MS28/MS48 range features a small number of products, each of which can be quickly and easily configured to suit the needs of the application at hand.
MS28 light curtains are suitable for Type 2 applications, while MS48 products are designed for Type 4 applications, complying with EN 61946 Part 1. The series includes 14 mm finger protection models, with a maximum operating range of 7 m, covering protection heights from 280 to 1800 mm. Also available are 30 mm hand protection models with a maximum range of 20 m, covering protection heights from 240 to 2120 mm. Rapid alignment is ensured by an innovative aid that uses intuitive LED indication to show whether adjustment is correct or incorrect.
The light curtains incorporate a simple switch arrangement that allows them to be set up and put into operation without any external programming equipment. Standard models feature options for external device monitoring, restart interlock, range reduction and a scan code selection option. For particularly demanding applications, a multifunctional version is available, which adds facilities for muting and for fixed and floating blanking.
Up to four MS28/48 light curtains can be cascaded for segmented guarding applications.
Designed for best-in-class durability, products in the MS28/48 range have housings up to 9 mm thick for use in tough industrial environments with a range of accessories that fits all models, cutting the investment needed in design and maintenance.
