The latest in products from NewElec is the Newcode Mark I, which, following an agreement with CHI, will be marketed under the NewElec brand. The Newcode Mark 1 is a protection and control relay with user-friendly features that is compatible with Profibus, Modbus and CANbus communications protocols.
Expandable I/O modules include 4–20 mA inputs as well as support for PTC 100 and PT 100 RTDs. For maintenance engineers, the relay records the last 1600 events as well as the last 60 faults together with details such as current interrupted, minimum voltage present at the time, rapidity of circuit interruption and the time and date of occurrence. Setting alterations are also recorded.
Completely configurable starter logics, built-in timers and powerful user-defined logic function blocks permit sophisticated applications to be designed. An optional removable memory module stores all current relay settings, which may then be uploaded to another relay without trouble.
Other features include LED indications for all faults as well as I/O status; control panel mounted LEDs that continuously emit the relay address; a USB port and an infrared data acquisition port. The free support software includes a recording utility, a calculator and a fully functional simulator that is adaptable for manual or automatic data inputs, ideal for training centres.
The relay is South African designed and manufactured, locally serviced and supported by a long established organisation in the market.
