RKC Instrument has announced the release of its new RB Series digital temperature controller. This high performance, budget friendly temperature controller saves space and money and gives outstanding control capability and comprehensive functionality in a slim housing.
The RB Series has a short depth (60 mm) and was designed with a mounting bracket that allows close horizontal mounting of as many as six units. These controllers have been designed with easy-to-read, large LCD display, which allows user visibility from greater distances. The RB series stores up to four set values and set value change-over is possible by digital input.
These controllers also feature numerous inputs and outputs. The improved auto-tuning algorithm calculates optimum PID values that shorten the time to reach stable control at the set value, as well as eliminating over-shooting or under-shooting. The new PID algorithm also suppresses over-shooting or under-shooting against external disturbances. The RB high performance controller provides precise control by sampling every 250 ms.
Another feature is the easy-fine tuning with 6-level of control response adjustment as well as start-up tuning, which eliminates the time required for conventional auto-tuning, as it calculates optimum PID values by temperature characteristics at start-up. It is useful in applications which require a long time for conventional auto-tuning.

Temperature Measurement
For successful paint cure, irrespective of the paint chemistry being used, there is a critical need to measure and control the temperature of the car body as it travels through the oven. Today, paint ovens are controlled in a sophisticated fashion via thermocouples located in each zone to give constant feedback on the ambient temperature.
