Tectra Automation customises at Centurion systems
October 2010
News
Tectra Automation, recently supplied Centurion Systems with a customised, product specific manual production system (MPS) to improve the production of electric gate motors. The MPS system assists in manufacturing through the lean processes based on the Japanese Kaizen principle for production, which focus on continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
“MPS products save time, prevent errors from occurring and eliminates over-processing and movement that does not add value. The new MPS product line enables a surprisingly easy fast-planning and implementation of production systems for all branches of industry,” explains Kevin Lombard, general manager, Tectra Automation.
The objective of MPS added value by replacing inefficient work processes. Based on the modular profile system from Bosch Rexroth, users have access to a complete program of ready-for-operation function modules. The main focus of the new development is flow rack systems and solutions for material supply.
Characteristics are defined in parameters and each function module complies with the parameters in terms of size, form and quantity. Users can define their own individual standard and are able to configure all system components with regard to size, form, design and layout to fit the respective work contents and needs of employees. The system includes workstations with accessories, as well as modules for material supply (flow racks, material shuttles or grab containers) plus material flow and linking components.
Using the free MPScalc planning and calculation software, workstations and flow racks, as well as entire production and assembly lines can be designed and quickly adapted to fit the work environment. MPScalc makes it possible to design in just a few minutes and to include automatic price calculation and generation of drawings. Ordering documents are completed at the press of a button.
“Centurion Systems are so satisfied with the results in production that they are standardising on the Bosch Rexroth MPS. They have also expressed interest in future production lines and in using the Ecoshape system,” concludes Lombard.
