200 tons of gravel per hour direct from the water to the plant.
At a lake in Hungary the plant sprawls out like an extra-long landing at a marina, its white struts and rods gleaming in the sun. At the end of this 200-metre long structure a dredger weighing several tons begins to move. It dredges gravel from depths of up to 50 metres in the 40 000 square metre lake for transport to the nearby mining plant. The gravel is moved across the lake in eight stages on 200 metres of conveyor belt at a rate of 200 tons per hour without losses.

Despite the fact that there is no solid ground underneath the belts are stable. SEW-Eurodrive together with marine engineers 3B Hungária, a Hungarian manufacturer of materials handling technology, developed the system that floats on pontoons. The belts are driven by space-saving parallel shaft helical and helical-bevel gear units from SEW which ensure jerk-free start-up with 30% excess power. After just six weeks of construction the plant was commissioned on the water, and has been transporting and supplying construction and filling material ever since.
