NewElec’s OLR 8 relays are designed to monitor one phase of the main motor circuit to provide running stall (jam) protection for selected applications ensuring accuracy as well as repeatability in performance. The OLR 8 Series prevents costly downtime due to impact torque conditions that result in broken conveyor belts, snapped chains, coupling failures, or even broken gear-boxes. In some instances and with careful adjustments the relay has been used to prevent crane overloading.
The relay is equipped with one main trip changeover contact and one instantaneous conditional changeover contact. It can be used in conjunction with any current range as an alarm/trip or current regulating unit. An easy to use load setting dial is calibrated from 30 to 120% of the primary current transformer and is used to monitor the load. In addition, the OLR 8 has a trip delay setting dial calibrated from 1 to 10 s.
The relay has a small surface mounted foot-print of 52 X 102 mm incorporating an 11-pin plug-in base and is fitted with three LEDs which signal power on, overload and trip conditions. An additional feature allows for either automatic or manual only resetting options. The relay has a user-selectable 110 or 220 VAC auxiliary supply voltage.
