Profile - Systems Anywhere

January 2010 News

Based in North Riding Johannesburg, Systems Anywhere is a system integrator specialising in the design and installation of industrial automation and advanced process control systems. Since its inception in 1999 the company has rapidly accumulated a successful track record with some of SA’s leading companies in the manufacturing, food, feed and mining industries.

The approach to projects is creative and innovative, ensuring that the deliverables are optimally functional and user friendly. Systems Anywhere says it thrives on preserving existing investments and getting the most from seemingly incompatible legacy solutions.

The company is led by André Vuilleumier who says, “Our team of software engineers are committed to excellence. The project management is flawless and clients can be confident that their plants are in the best possible hands. The engineers on the staff are also of the highest calibre, bringing their considerable experience and knowledge to each project and ensuring success. With our enthusiasm and energy directed at industries with which we are totally familiar, Systems Anywhere clients have come to believe that nothing is impossible”.

Among the clients who have benefited from this approach are AngloGold Ashanti, Harmony Gold, Buhler, Somchem, Bokomo, Sasco, Epol, Tiger Foods, Nestlé, Barrick and Kumba.

Systems Anywhere holds expert knowledge in Microsoft SQL, Visual Basic & VB.Net Programming and C++ software, Networking Server Based Systems and Web Reporting, extensive knowledge of most common PLC hardware and software, and EPM and ERP integration.

Finer points

In 1999 Systems Anywhere implemented one of the largest InControl PLC installations in South Africa (InControl is Wonderware’s ‘soft PLC’). In the years since then the company’s attention has ranged from machine control, automation modifications, plant retrofits as well as new turnkey projects. Aside from software development, Systems Anywhere fulfils its clients’ instrumentation requirements as well as panel manufacturing and electrical installation and supplies.

The introduction of the Expert System with its Expert Operator and Expert Downtime software has had a considerable impact on the bottom line of a number of mining plants. The Expert System is linked to Wonderware’s ArchestrA where required, or can be used as a standalone software. The Expert System utilises fuzzy and rule-based principles for multivariable controls.

With the emphasis in feed milling turning to quality control, Systems Anywhere has extensive experience in batching and product traceability, ensuring that the feed quality is traceable to European standards.
