Production at Endress+Hauser’s new state of the art sensor plant in Stahnsdorf near Berlin is now fully operational. The competence centre for silicon pressure sensors features the latest in production technology and will further boost the research and development of new sensor technologies.
Production of silicon pressure sensors at the new Endress+Hauser facility
Silicon pressure sensors are important components for high-quality pressure transmitters, used in virtually all segments of modern industrial process engineering. The new plant has not only been designed to increase production capacity but also to improve and set new standards in this area: “We aim for ultimate quality standards and we can set these at the new site,” says MD Matthias Altendorf.
Until recently, the company developed and produced high-tech components in rented premises in Teltow, a few kilometres from Stahnsdorf. The Teltow production facility manufactured sensors for the Deltabar S as well as the Deltapilot S ranges. In late May 2009, the building was destroyed by a devastating fire. “The fire prompted us to speed up work at the new facilities, and we made an enormous effort to get the new production plant going much earlier than scheduled,” says Dieter Stolze, manager of the new sensor plant.
Endress+Hauser invested over 8,5 million euros in the new production facilities that cover over 3000 square metres of floor space built in just over 16 months. Stahnsdorf sensor plant employs 65 people and seven trainees completing their industrial mechanics qualifications.
