The Siemens Partner Programme provides an international register of selected system integrators who act as solution providers and provide global support for the Siemens range of products and services.
Byron Jefferys, the solution partner manager at Siemens Industry Automation, says the partner programme offers the perfect solution to companies who face the challenges posed by operating in an increasingly global business and manufacturing environment and require a consistent set of concepts, standards and implementation across the plant.
“As business becomes more global in nature and multinational players operate in different countries, the Siemens Partner Programme guarantees that a set of uniform standards are met across the board no matter where in the world a particular facility may be located,” says Jefferys.
The Partner Programme has three tiers. The first is a Solution Partner that has to fulfil criteria from a turnover perspective and have a skills set certified by Siemens; the second is a Solution Partner Specialist that must have specific know-how of a particular product range or industry; and the third, and highest level, is a Solution Partner for Industry that has developed turnkey solutions for a specific industrial sector.
Regular meetings are held with partners to highlight new business opportunities and showcase solution expertise. As part of this two-way process the company recently finished a countrywide road show in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern and Western Cape to discuss changes in the company’s structure as well as new support mechanisms.
“The idea is to get closer to our partners and implement agreements that while global in nature are localised for different regions and different challenges. Our partners add value for us through their certified product and system expertise and excellent knowledge of their chosen industry sector,” he explains.
The backbone of the portfolio, and the basis for the customised solutions that the Solution Partners implement, is Totally Integrated Automation (TIA), Totally Integrated Power (TIP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
“The global acceptance of our program underscores a standard of quality that can be recognised anywhere in the world,” concludes Jefferys.
