Iritron’s Allen Heyneke and Erik Weyer came up with the great idea to build team spirit in the company through an action cricket team consisting of Iritron staff members entered into the league played in Centurion. Team members would be chosen from all the different functional areas within the company.
Initially it was obvious that not many of them were cricket players but with time the specific talents of the players became clearer and the team is now starting to give their opponents real competition. Their record so far is two out of seven games won. Statistically they are also improving and currently have scored the most runs in their section.

From a team-building perspective the players say it has helped them in their interaction with the other departments in the company. Iritron has given all a personalised shirt with their chosen number on the back. Some colourful nicknames, ranging from Baksteen to Big Easy, are also in evidence. Brad Keyter, who was new to the company, said it was a great way to get to know his new colleagues and settle in at Iritron.
