To ensure that a pump is taken out of service when the liquid medium dries up, NewElec recommends fitting the UCR 80 relay into the starter circuit.
The UCR 80 allows the user to select the load level at which point an alarm contact is actuated simultaneously with a user selected time delay for the main trip contact. This will stop the pump when energised. If the load is re-established during the process, the trip delay is terminated and the alarm contact de-energised automatically. The UCR 80 is a chassis mounted product requiring one current transformer to monitor load on one phase only. The selected trip threshold scale is % calibrated therefore it is easy to select an appropriate current transformer ratio.
The UCR 80 may be used in any application where load loss is detrimental to a process or for monitoring degrading efficiencies in impellor wear on pumps.
